Beauty: The Perfect Friday Afternoon at MiniLuxe

Warm Interior of MiniLuxe on Newbury Street

After eight days of marathon quality walks around London, my feet needed a little love. Specifically, a nice, pampering pedicure ending with some fantastic new polish on my tootsies. Enter, MiniLuxe on Newbury Street and their Sugar Kiss Lalicious Pedicure.

New for Fall 2011, the Sugar Kiss Lalicious Pedicure uses a heavenly scented Lalicious scrub and cream. I’m obsessed with anything vanilla scented and the Lalicious scrub and cream was right up my alley with blend of citrus, rose and (my favorite) vanilla. I also found it really interesting that both the scrub and cream are paraben-free and essential oil based, resulting in an ultra hydrating experience.

As for the actual pedicure, this one was by the book and wonderful. From soaking my tired feet in warm water, to scrubbing, buffing and some lovely massaging, I haven’t felt this relaxed on a Friday afternoon in some time. When it came time to paint my toenails, I was drawn to the golden color from MiniLuxe’s nail polish line. Shimmering and pretty against my fair skin tone, I was impressed to learn their entire line is free of ingredients that are regarded as “bad” for your nails: formaldehyde, toluene and dbp’s. In addition to my selection, MiniLuxe has expanded their permanent line to 15 polishes, plus a number of seasonal shades. Two new shades to check out include new shades Luxe Haze, a deep smoky purple and Luxe Slate, a shimmery tarnished gray.

It's really weird to taking a photo of your foot, but I went for it! For the record, I'm not quitting my day job to take up foot modeling. My feet do look pretty good, though!

In addition to getting a pedicure, I also enjoyed a manicure. Tip: If you’re going to get both, definitely get the pedicure first so you can give you toes extra time to dry while you’re getting a manicure. The manicure experience was also perfect with a nice hand massage and artful shaping of my nails. I opted for rounded on top with squared sides, which sounds strange, but the end result is very classic. I’m much more conservative with my nails and always go with a pale pink. This time it was Ballet Slippers by Essie, but I’ve also used Mademoiselle by Essie and loved it.

Pretty nails post-mani. For the record, I didn't feel as strange taking photos of my hand. Thanks mom for picking out such lovely fabric for my chair. It's a great back drop :).

All in all, I really enjoyed my MiniLuxe experience. As a visitor, you can tell that MiniLuxe works hard to create a pleasant, relaxing experience for their guests in addition to delivering high quality services. From carrying my bag for me between stations, to checking on me several times at the hand/foot dryer, I felt very doted on in a way that was genuine.

The SavvyBostonian was a guest of MiniLuxe for her Sugar Kiss Lalicious Pedicure ($44) and MiniLuxe Manicure ($19), but strongly believes in only recommending places that she’d also visit as a paying customer. In addition to the Newbury Street location, MiniLuxe’s services, including manicures, massages, pedicures and waxing are available at locations in Brookline (481 Harvard Street), Newton and Lexington. Additional locations are scheduled to open soon in Wellesley (98 Central Street) and Chestnut Hill (639 VFW Parkway).
