On the Town: $5 Tapas at Tapeo in Boston

IMG_1714In the spirit of sharing a good deal, please allow me to introduce you to Tapeo in Boston. Tapeo is a fantastic Spanish style tapas restaurant on Newbury Street in Boston’s Back Bay with a lovely outdoor patio, interior seating and bar area. While it’s almost irresistible not to sit on their great patio on a nice summer day, the $15 per person minimum is not always ideal when you just want a little snack. Enter, the $5 tapas menu at the bar.

The menu at the bar changes frequently, but always seems to have a list of Tapeo’s famous standby’s. The best part is that they’re the same size as their full priced counterparts. I met a friend on a Sunday evening and we had quite a budget-friendly feast!

TRAVEL

Favorite Things: Keep Calm & Carry On Charlie Card, Metro Card & Oyster Card Envelope

IMG_1708I love all things Keep Calm and Carry On, so you can imagine my delight upon discovering the perfect card case to carry my Charlie Card (Boston), Metro Card (NYC), or Oyster Card (London). At two pounds, I swept up this cheerfully red card case during a trip to London at a little shop in the Baker Street tube station. Wouldn’t you agree that it’s especially important to Keep Calm and Carry on while on public transit? 🙂

And, for the record, my personal Keep Calm collection also extends to a magnet and reusable sigg bottle. I also have a Keep Calm and Drink Coffee magnet for my desk at work, plus a Keep Calm and Have a Cupcake notebook for my never-ending to-do lists (thanks G & S!).

Want one too? I found my little Keep Calm and Carry On card case here on Amazon as well. FYI, all links in this post are affiliate links.

Happy July 4th Boston!

IMG_3157Despite having a blog called “The SavvyBostonian,” it’s rare that I’m actually in Boston for July 4th. For six years, I went to a friend’s place up in Conway, New Hampshire and then last year I was galavanting around London. And yes, I do see the irony of being in London on July 4th. This year, all of that changed. With vacation time allocated to other trips, I found myself celebrating July 4th in Boston and then back to work the next day.

Holed up in my apartment all day working on a big project (more on that later!), I almost didn’t go out to celebrate. Luckily, at the last minute a friend called with an opportunity to come up on an incredible roof deck just steps from where I live. Let’s just say that it doesn’t get any better than a glass of sparking rose, good friends, a great view and live streaming the Boston Pops on someone’s iPhone w/ speakers while the fireworks went on. Check out my two videos from the event – originally shared via my savvybostonian Vine account – to see them for yourself!
