On The Town: Brunchin’ With Dad at Cinquecento

IMG_0136A recent brunch with my Father reminded me just how much I adore Cinquecento – even if I have a hard time pronouncing this delicious restaurant’s name. From it’s Italian brunch entrees, to friendly staff and gorgeous interior, our meal out was a great reminder to try Cinquecento for more than just dinner or drinks.

Cinquecento, which means 500 in Italian, was named for the restaurant’s address at 500 Harrison Ave. in Boston’s South End. The restaurant’s location in the deep South End comes with a major perk – free parking. Which, is especially key when friends or parents are coming in from out of town for the day. The restaurant has a private room for events on the ground floor with an open floor plan bar and dining room on the second floor.

Cinquecento is open for brunch on both Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 3pm. For our brunch, we opted for a mix of classics. We started with a simple, yet delicious salad with mustard greens, pancetta, ricotta salata and mostarda vinaigrette. I’m not typically a salad at brunch kind of girl, but I’m glad we tried this one – it was divine.

A delicious salad.

A delicious salad.

For entrees, I opted for a classic dish of fried eggs with roasted mushrooms, pancetta & ricotta salata. While delicious, it’s worth noting that the portion isn’t huge. If you’re a fan of brunches with huge portions, this dish may not be for you.

A better idea for those with big appetites is the poached eggs with truffled polenta bianca, fontina & grilled bread. This dish was exactly what one might expect – cheesy, hearty, comforting and very filling.

All in all, a fantastic brunch. I know I’ll be back! For more information on Cinquecento, visit the restaurant’s website.
