LONDON

London: Hermes Wanderland at The Saatchi Gallery

There’s always something interesting happening in London, and this weekend was no exception. When I heard Hermès was hosting an exhibition at The Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea, I immediately marked it on my calendar. While I am familiar with Hermès, the Wanderland experience presented me with a different side of the brand. Unexpected and experiential, I really enjoyed it.

Upon entry, visitors are taken through a series of rooms and halls, each with different experiences that showcase different things about Hermès.

In each room, visitors must pause to take in the whimsical and unexpected details. Lights, sound and video are used throughout in unique ways, such as on the table below, where video is being projected on the objects.

Throughout, information is shared that is a mix of factual, quotes and a bit of whimsy, promoting visitors at the end to “stroll on.”

The ending of the exhibit is unexpected – graffiti with Hermes! It’s also worth noting that Hermes does display some of its luxurious wares throughout. I simply took photos of the more unique aspects of the exhibit.

All in all, it was another wonderful weekend in London.
