Entertaining: A Doggie Birthday Party Fit For A Queen

I have a confession to make. Up until recently, I had never been to a birthday party for a dog before! So, when I was invited to a 10th birthday party for my dear friend’s dog, I was very excited. From the venue to the food, doggie treats and more, the party was fabulous! Planning a doggie birthday party? Take inspiration from my friend’s soiree!

The Gift

While I’m clearly not an etiquette expert when it comes to a dog’s birthday party, I operated under the assumption that if you’re invited to a birthday party, you simply must bring a gift. I did my research and found a cute pet store called Pet London in Marylebone. I would advise checking their hours before you venture over as they are not open Friday – Sunday, but do have limited after work availability on other days. They do also offer an e-commerce shop for deliveries, but given my inexperience here, I wanted to consult an expert!

The owners of the store were so kind, asking me for the type of dog, age and were fantastic at making recommendations. Inspired by the fact that we are all American expats in London, I decided to go for a British Royal theme, scooping up a cute Union Jack plush dog bone toy (pictured above) and the most hilarious ‘God Save The Corgi’ doggie treats.

If I had been passing through the U.S. before the party, I would have been tempted to order from a company like Haute Diggity Dog, which has the most adorable selection of designer knock off doggie gear. Think “Barkin” bags and “Chewy Vuitton” plush bones. The birthday doggie is named Prada, so how cute would it have been to get her a “Pawda” bag!? I know….right?

A “Pawsh” Venue

Before I knew it, the day was here. Time to party! Naturally, the weather in London did not cooperate – it was cold, gloomy and bucketing down rain to boot – aka the perfect day to be inside.

Upon arrival, I was absolutely floored. The venue, Verve London Pet Boutique & Bar Lounge, was absolutely adorable! Verve London has a full liquor license, so people with pets can pop in, enjoy a cocktail, coffee, tea, or some light bites. It can also be reserved for private parties like ours.

Party Favors

My friend had organized such a nice spread, with salads, crostini’s and champagne for the humans and plenty of treats and water for the pups. The birthday dog treats below came from Doggie Patisserie. The treats were incredibly cute and a huge hit with the four-legged guests.

The guests were mostly of the tiny, white and fluffy kind, and were all quite well behaved. And, the birthday girl looked divine in her party hat!

All in all, it was a fabulous way to spend a Sunday in London. Happy Birthday Prada!!!
